Ryan Tuerck takes on DevBot Autonomous car on the Formula E Rome street circuit Roborace

There has been a lot of news lately regarding AI and we have suddenly come to realize that our current impressions of Siri and Alexa are not close to what state of the art AI is capable of currently. Ryan Tuerck, a Pro Drifter goes to the Formula E Rome street circuit to participate in Roborace to take on DevBot, an autonomously controlled electric race car. Ryan does a pretty good job handling the massive torque this machine puts out considering the little seat time he was given and manages to navigate his way to the finish line. DevBot on the other hand performed amazingly, but in the end comes up short allowing humans to retain superiority, for now.

Nissan will be entering Formula E in the 2018-19 season

It appears that Nissan will be entering the Formula E racing series in 2018 for season 5 which will make them the first Japanese auto manufacturer to make the jump. Season 4 starts this December and goes through July, but many are looking forward to season 5 already as there control over which parts are used goes back to the manufacturers, though all teams will use the same chassis.

BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz have already committed to entering Formula E among others.

Jaguar introduces their I-TYPE 2 Formula E car for Season 4

Jaguar has shown off their Season 4 Formula E car as well as announced Nelson Piquet Jr as their driver. It will do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and has a regeneration capability of up to 150 kW of energy during braking which helps extend its range.

Jaguar announces I-PACE eTROPHY electric racing series

In what appears to be a slick promotional tool, Jaguar will be forming a racing series for its I-Pace SUV which will race on existing Formula E tracks. There can be up to 20 drivers, an international racing license is required but the vehicles and required support will be provided by Jaguar and the FIA.

Drivers will be entering into a 10 race global series with each race lasting 30 minutes.
